Sweet Cherry Pie filling

Thick sweet cherry pie filling with a touch of maple syrup.
Servings: 6 slices

Ingredients
  

  • 6 cups organic pitted sweet dark cherries cut into fourths
  • ¼-⅓ cup maple syrup
  • cup arrowroot powder
  • ¼ cup lemon juice
  • tsp vanilla

Method
 

  1. Add all ingredients to a medium sized pot.
  2. Bring to a simmer, stirring every 30 seconds cook for 4-5 minutes until thick.
  3. Pour mixture into a glass air tight container and chill for up to 4 days until ready to pour into prepared pie dish. We use this recipe for other types of berries too.
