Pickles
Pickles! Oh man, what can so easily be a super food becomes a toxic mess! Cucumbers hit the EWGs dirty dozen list a few times, this year (2024) thankfully they are not. You can read more about EWGs dirty dozen list here https://www.ewg.org/foodnews/full-list.php. Pickles can be packed with probiotics if they are properly prepared with fermentation. We ferment our pickles at home most of the time and I will post about that another day, but sometimes we will purchase them when we run out. I still use Bubbies brand but I loved them so much more when they used well water, sadly they do not use well water anymore. Yet, they still have the probiotics and much better ingredients. Pickles often have food coloring, yikes, how sad is that?! Next time skip the nasty chemicals and get some good probiotic pickles. You can find them in the fridge section at Natural Grocers, Sprouts, Good Earth and sometimes the big box stores. Make sure you read ingredient lists always!
