Elderberry Gift Jar
When someone you know (or don’t know) is sick, its super helpful if you can provide a elderberry gift jar….most of the time. I say most of the time, because sometimes its just too overwhelming when you are ill to have to make something. Maybe this is a better gift to give someone who has a sick spouse, child or parent, that way someone who is feeling ok can make the syrup.
Elderberry is a super good immune boosting herb. I harvest my own every year by going up the mountains. I have this obsession with Elderberry, (like my pomegranate, apple cider vinegar, chestnuts, acorn and a few other obsessions) they simply bring me tons of joy! I will talk about how to harvest and dry Elderberries in another post. You can totally just purchase Elderberries from Mountain Rose Herbs by clicking here: https://get.aspr.app/SHi2w.
This jar is so fun to make and super cute. I just throw together and add a little ribbon and its a simple way to show someone they are thought of.
I use a jar that can hold about 1 1/2 – 2 cups. I add the following to a jar:
1 cup dried elderberries
5-10 whole allspice
5-10 garlic cloves
4 three inch cinnamon sticks
1 TBSP dried ginger root
Place all of these in a jar, have a handful ready to give out to friends who are ill! I will post more pictures later when I have good lighting!
