Christmas Stars

Christmas Stars
Jump to Recipe

These cute snacks/ appetizers are fun for a Christmas party, or even just to make lunchtime more fun any time of the year! They are super easy to create and even more fun to eat.

Fun way to serve others

You could also easily make these stars and show up at a friends house or neighbor to give them as a fun snack. Mamas who have little ones would likely love a break from the many hours in the kitchen so consider sharing these with someone who would (and could) enjoy them.

Chemicals in meat

For our lunch meat I use Applegate brand but there are other brands that Natural food stores carry that are not full of Nitrates and Nitrites. We avoid these added ingredients because of the cancerous, gut and heart damaging side effects they can have on the body. Nitrates and Nitrites are naturally occurring in many foods such as spinach. But God knew what he was doing when he made food so he added the correct amounts of all the other nutrients, fiber, and enzymes so that the food would properly be absorbed when eaten. Because God is the most brilliant one ever- look at everything he has done! So, the problem comes in when these are synthetic made chemicals in a lab. Fake chemicals don’t belong in food and they sure don’t belong in the body! (You can learn more about these ingredients here: https://foodbabe.com/ingredients-to-avoid/ .

Lunch meat

I have a cute little mini star cookie cutter that I use for these, but really any shape that doesn’t have too many small corners works well. Start by stacking up about 3-4 slices of lunchmeat equally lined up. Use your cookie cutter and start on the edge of the meat and work your way around and towards the center. Keep the cuts closer together to try and get more pieces cut out of it! The extra scraps of lunchmeat you can save to chop up and put in an omelet or egg muffins!

Cheese!

I use the same start cookie cutter, but I wash it just to make sure the cheese has a fresh cut with no meat juice on it. I personally purchase pre sliced organic cheese when I make these because it makes them easier to keep uniform. If you simply have a block of cheese, just cut some slices and start cutting with the star cookie cutter in the corner and work the way across the cheese. Use the remaining scraps for a quesadilla, or omelet, or to melt into soup.

Yellow Pepper

Cut the yellow pepper so that you can have bigger flat pieces. I have tried with skin up and skin down, I actually prefer skin up to slice with the cookie cutter because the skin of the pepper tears when it has skin down. Try to get as many stars possible, this works well by starting in the corner and working your way out. Use the scraps for… you guessed it, an omelet.

Put them together

Poke your tooth pick into the cheese, then the lunchmeat and last an upside down star pepper. Flip it over and tada! Simple easy, adorable and yummy appetizers/snacks.
