Thanksgiving Gratitude Game

Thanksgiving Gratitude Game

I love many classic traditions on Thanksgiving but over the years I have had this burning desire to add in just a bit more of the holiday fun. Thanksgiving was always awesome because I love making food, I love looking at food and I really love eating food! I always wanted to add a bit more fun to the day though.

I had no idea football was a Thanksgiving tradition until my husband told me he was going to go jump in on a game the neighborhood was putting on, I will need to work on my football skills so I can be a part of that one next year. (Knowing me and my sad history of sports I don’t know for sure if this one is a good idea.)

Each year I try to add a little more or adjust the traditional events to make it last a bit longer. Name tags for the tables are fun and my sweet kids have now taken over that job, saying what we are thankful for is always important, we can’t ever make enough Thanksgiving crafts and now we have added in some Thanksgiving games. Funny thing is, I really have figured out I like to make things as simple as possible too. I don’t want the same old basic steps but the things I add in, I want them to be easy and simple.

This year I made a game for my family that was simple, fun and didn’t take too long (I sometimes loose brain power with long games). This is a roll a gratitude game! 🙂 Each person gets a dice and either the entire table shares the printable “game page” or you can print a page for each person to have their own.

Figure out who will go first, I always like something funny like whoever ate broccoli last or whoever has the cleanest socks. That person will roll the dice and then they read off and answer something they are thankful for based off the matching number. For example number 4 is “An animal I am thankful for”, that person would say “I am thankful for my bunny named Bob” or “I am thankful for monkeys because they are so cute”. Anything goes… mostly. We do have a “it needs to be real” rule with my one child who likes to add in just a few too many sarcastic comments such as “I am thankful for my pet underwear…”. That kid always has some random something to throw into games, but he is a funny one for sure.

This game is easy, lasts maybe 10-20 minutes (or as long as you want) and gives your family a bit more to do! Hopefully you enjoy it, please let me know in the comments. Please be honest and do not copy my creations. Thank you!

Happy Thanksgiving!
